University of Wisconsin Oshkosh celebrates midyear commencement with about 700 graduates

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh celebrated the achievements of approximately 700 students during its 60th midyear commencement. The event took place at Kolf Sports Center, where families and friends gathered to witness the awarding of associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees. This marks the end of academic programs for those finishing in both summer and fall terms. These graduates join a community of over 100,000 UW Oshkosh alumni.

Trevor Bentz from Beaver Dam graduated cum laude with a degree in mathematics education. He expressed his aspiration to work as a teacher at Beaver Dam High School, where he previously served as a teaching assistant.

Caylee Fry from Reedsburg completed her degree in K-12 physical education summa cum laude. Fry reflected on her student teaching experience and was accompanied by family members during the ceremony.

Molly Walter from Oshkosh and Benjamin Tinsen from Oak Creek discussed their future plans before the procession. Walter earned a degree in early childhood and special education, while Tinsen graduated with a degree in secondary education in English. “I think it will hit me after I walk across the stage,” Tinsen remarked.

Leah Fassbender from Kewaskum received her degree in human services leadership through UWO's online program. Currently an admissions counselor at Concordia University, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in counseling.

Faith Koepp from Grafton completed her bachelor of business administration degree mostly online. She is interested in exploring opportunities in human resources.

Mackenzie Aldrich from Mosinee graduated with a finance degree after switching majors from medical imaging. She has applied for credit analyst positions following an internship with Church Mutual.

Amanda Burkart from Round Lake, Illinois, is set to begin her career as a labor and delivery nurse at Froedtert Hospital. Her decision was influenced by her grandmother's nursing career.

James Her from Appleton earned his bachelor of science in nursing after starting with an associate degree. He aims to eventually achieve a doctor of nursing practice degree.

Christopher Ahrens plans to relocate to Oregon for employment at Nike world headquarters after obtaining his master of business administration degree. He credited professor Dale Feinauer for guidance during his studies.

Madison Szewczuk from Twin Lakes earned a multimedia journalism degree and intends to pursue social media management for sports teams while moving to Madison.
