The Appleton Police Department has announced that it is hiring new officers and is encouraging interested candidates to apply. The department is offering competitive salaries, structured career advancement, and specialized training opportunities for both new recruits and experienced officers looking to transfer.

The department’s compensation package includes a starting base pay of up to $84,664 for qualifying lateral transfers, with a rate of $40.70 per hour for those with a degree. Officers receive guaranteed pay increases through the Position Enhancement Program and can advance based on merit rather than seniority. Additional benefits include up to five weeks of vacation, 128 hours of holiday pay, and a take-home squad car program.

The Appleton Police Department offers a structured physical fitness program with bonus pay, access to an in-house gym, and advanced training facilities, including a defensive tactics room and a shooting range. Officers have access to state-of-the-art technology and training resources, with over 55 specialty roles available within the department. The department also provides a uniform allowance and fully department-issued equipment.

Officers receive comprehensive benefits, including continued education reimbursement and access to the Connecting Care Clinic for employees, spouses, and dependents. The department also provides a structured path for career progression through a merit-based promotion system and non-seniority-based specialized positions.

The Appleton Police Department serves a population of approximately 75,000 residents and operates with a community-focused policing model. The department consists of multiple divisions, including patrol, investigations, and special operations. Officers work in collaboration with local organizations and schools to implement crime prevention initiatives and public safety programs.
