The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's biology department has received a donation of advanced microscopes from Kimberly-Clark Corporation. This contribution will enhance the learning and research capabilities for students in the department.
Faculty members Andrew Bosma, Lisa Dorn, Courtney Kurtz, and Greg Potratz visited Kimberly-Clark's headquarters in Neenah to accept the equipment, which includes computers and software. The donation was facilitated by Lyndsay Poeschl, a UWO Biology alumna and current employee at Kimberly-Clark.
The new confocal and fluorescent microscopes will be integrated into coursework and independent research projects. Faculty members are eager to incorporate this technology into their teaching methods.
Courtney Kurtz expressed enthusiasm about the potential benefits of the new equipment: “UWO Biology is excited to accept another donation from Kimberly-Clark, a company that has generously donated advanced research equipment to us in the past,” she said. “These new microscopes will not only advance research at UWO but will provide opportunities for students to learn how to use advanced histology equipment for research and diagnostics. Our students will now have a chance to gain hands-on experience with confocal microscopy, which is used in research and diagnostic labs throughout the world.”
