Amplify CKLA is being tested in the 2024-2025 school year across all grade levels and elementary schools. This curriculum emphasizes a knowledge-building, science-based approach to reading instruction, aiming to create an engaging learning environment that connects reading with comprehension and critical thinking.
The field test involves at least two grade levels at each OASD elementary school. The goals are to evaluate the curriculum's effectiveness, gather insights from teachers and students, and make informed decisions about district-wide literacy approaches.
Teachers involved in this initiative have expressed enthusiasm about CKLA's potential. "As you'll see in our first video spotlight, teachers are experiencing firsthand the transformative potential of CKLA," states the release.
The Literacy Committee has supported CKLA with a goal of providing foundational reading skills for every student. "This is more than a curriculum change—it's a district-wide commitment to excellence in literacy," according to the statement.
Community members are encouraged to follow along as this new approach to literacy education unfolds. More video spotlights will offer further insights into CKLA's impact on student learning.
"Literacy is not just an academic goal - it's a pathway to opportunity. Together, we're building a stronger future, one reader at a time."
