UW-Oshkosh remembers alumni who have recently passed away

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh has released a list of alumni who have passed away between December 2024 and August 2025. The university’s report includes graduates from several decades, with the earliest listed alumna graduating in 1952.

Among those remembered are Caroline (Roemer) Willis, class of 1952, who died on July 6, 2025, in Oshkosh. Other alumni from the 1960s include Thomas Martin (class of 1960 and recipient of a Master of Science in Teaching in 1969), who passed away on August 14, 2025, in Combined Locks; Thomas Morrelle (class of 1966 and MSE in 1972) from Howards Grove, who died on August 9, 2025; and Leon Thompson (class of 1969 and MST in 1976), who died on August 3, 2025, in Oshkosh.

The list also notes several alumni from the classes of the ‘70s: Roger Brey ’74 (Oshkosh), Pearl Czisny ’71 (Rubicon), Melede (Gladoske) Gerwig ’70 (Kailua, Hawaii), Gary Gisselman ’75 MA (Wausau), Mabel Grummer ’70 (Appleton), William “Bill” Smedlund ’74 MBA (Kimberly), Elvera Timm ’72 and ’80 MSE (Kewaunee), and Myrna Wulgaert ’76 (Mesa, Arizona). Their dates of death range from December 10, 2024 to July and August of this year.

Alumni from more recent decades are also included. Kathryn Beyer ’88 MSE passed away on August 4, 2025, in Green Bay. Thomas Long ’82 died on July 30, while Leeann Busse ‘99/’03 MS died on July 25 in Greenleaf. Diane Tenley ‘90 passed away on July 23 in Sauk City. Angie (Strassman) Greicar ‘07 died on August 5 in Malone. John Nerat ‘10 is also listed among those deceased as of July this year.

The University extends its condolences to the families and friends affected by these losses.
