Lawrence University's annual Giving Day, held on October 22, has successfully raised $1.72 million to support the Lawrence Fund. The event attracted contributions from 1,757 donors, surpassing last year's total of $1.62 million.
The initiative involved online and in-person activities, as well as engagement through social media platforms. Students participated alongside faculty, staff, and alumni in various events aimed at fostering community spirit and generosity.
Taylor Lang, associate director of annual giving at Lawrence University, spearheaded the outreach efforts that targeted alumni, parents, and friends globally. On-campus activities included students competing in lacrosse-themed games and writing messages on gratitude walls.
Amy Wilson, vice president of Advancement at Lawrence University, expressed her appreciation for the community's involvement: “It was my first Giving Day at Lawrence, and I was overwhelmed by the energy and generosity of our community.” She noted a record number of donors acting as Game Changers by providing matching funds to encourage more donations.
Kourtney Mercer, a senior biology major from Mazomanie, Wisconsin, highlighted the event's significance: "This event brings our community together to support the areas we love most about our college."
Nico Manzanera, a junior business & entrepreneurship major from Bogotá, Colombia, also shared his thoughts: “Giving Day to me...has always seemed like a great opportunity for me and my peers to thank the people who have been supporting our education.”
The funds raised during Giving Day are allocated to various initiatives benefiting Lawrence students through campus improvements and educational opportunities such as study-abroad programs.
