Two UWO alumni to be honored for success in broadcasting

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Radio TV Film program has produced many successful graduates, two of whom will be recognized at the 2024 Alumni Awards Celebration during Homecoming Weekend. Wendell Ray, host of the UWO Now podcast, interviewed these alumni about how their education at UW Oshkosh influenced their careers and personal lives.

Kenton Barber, a 2017 graduate from Los Angeles, California, has built a career as a television network Steadicam owner/operator and specialty camera operator. His work spans various fields including television sports such as the Olympics and Kentucky Derby, esports, music videos, live events, and film.

John Close, who graduated in 1976 and resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, recently retired after an extensive career in motorsports. He worked as a journalist, author, marketer, team member, and race day spotter.
