On November 19, 2024, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released its School and District Report Cards. The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) announced that both Oshkosh North High School and Oshkosh West High School continue to "Exceed Expectations." This recognition is attributed to a focus on student growth and participation in arts and dual enrollment courses.

For the 2023-2024 school year, OASD achieved an overall accountability score of "Meets Expectations" with a score of 69.7, up from 68.4 the previous year. The report cards evaluate performance in Student Achievement, District Growth, Target Group, and On-Track and Postsecondary Success. Notably, OASD scored 73.6 in "Growth," surpassing the state average of 66.0.

The report highlighted improvements at Oshkosh North High School in the Target Group Outcomes area, formerly known as Closing Gaps. Carl Traeger Middle School and Advanced Learning Program (ALPs) were noted for "Significantly Exceeds Expectations," scoring 86.9 and 98.4 respectively.

In addition to the high schools, six OASD schools were recognized as "Exceeds Expectations": Carl Traeger Elementary, Lakeside Elementary, Oakwood Elementary, Perry Tipler Middle, Shapiro STEM Academy, and Webster Stanley Elementary (formerly Menominee Elementary). Seven schools met expectations: Emmeline Cook Elementary, Franklin Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Oaklawn Elementary, Read Elementary, South Park Middle, and Washington Elementary. Three schools—Merrill Elementary (former), Roosevelt Elementary, and Vel Phillips Middle—were rated as "Meets Few Expectations."

Dr. Sam Coleman, OASD assistant superintendent of instruction stated: “Our educators and leaders are committed to supporting student growth...we are focused on four key areas to propel students forward.” He emphasized the importance of instructional materials, professional development, data-driven decision-making, and teacher evaluation.

State report cards serve as an accountability measure using results from the Wisconsin Forward Exam along with attendance rates and graduation rates among other metrics. The intention is for schools to identify areas for improvement based on these reports.

Changes to the proficiency rating scale for the Forward Exam make comparisons to previous years challenging; however, Coleman noted that they provide valuable insights for ongoing efforts to enhance student achievement.

Coleman further explained: "Student achievement is our top priority...the OASD is committed to setting ambitious goals...to ensure we keep growing."
