The Universities of Wisconsin have announced the selection of participants for the 2024–2025 Wisconsin Teaching Fellows & Scholars program. This year’s cohort includes faculty from the Universities of Wisconsin’s 11 comprehensive universities and UW-Milwaukee. To be nominated, candidates must demonstrate exceptional teaching skills and a curiosity about student learning.
The program, which begins in late May and concludes with a research presentation at the annual Spring Conference on Teaching and Learning in April 2025, provides an opportunity for UW faculty and academic staff to collaborate across disciplines. Participants engage in systematic research aimed at improving student learning through a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project.
Wisconsin Teaching Fellows & Scholars is one of three signature programs offered by the Universities of Wisconsin’s Office of Professional and Instructional Development (OPID). OPID supports professional development programs across the Universities’ 13 Centers for Teaching and Learning, ensuring excellence in various learning environments. Fay Akindes serves as OPID Director.
The program is directed by Valerie Barske, a history professor at UW-Stevens Point, and Heather Pelzel, a biological sciences professor at UW-Whitewater.
