Four top Wisconsin nurses and two nurse leaders were recently recognized for their exceptional service at the annual Nightingale Awards held by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing. The event, which took place on April 25 at the Culver Family Welcome Center, celebrated individuals who embody the spirit of Florence Nightingale and demonstrate excellence in nursing practice and leadership.

Among the Nursing Excellence Award winners were Carly Krueger, Michelle Lembcke, Erin Murphy, and Amy Schroeder. Carly Krueger, an emergency room nurse at Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh, was praised for reshaping her department and providing support for both nurses and patients. Michelle Lembcke, a clinical nurse at ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca, was recognized for her dedication and exceptional care for all patients. Erin Murphy, a perianesthesia RN at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, was described as a shining example of the future of nursing due to her flexibility and resilience. Amy Schroeder, a charge nurse at SSM St. Agnes Hospital, was commended for going above and beyond in every aspect of her care.

In addition, Kimberly Goodacre of ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah and Appleton, and Anne Vogrinc of Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s, Milwaukee, received the Nurse Leader Award. Kimberly Goodacre, a 2005 UWO alumna, was recognized for her approachable personality and commitment to supporting her team in moments of unexpected outcomes. Anne Vogrinc, a nurse manager, was praised for her unwavering presence on the unit and her ability to create a calming atmosphere for her staff.

The Nightingale Awards, instituted in 1993, recognize excellence in nursing practice and leadership. Award recipients receive a scholarship and an original commemorative award symbolizing the spirit of Florence Nightingale. The event aims to honor and celebrate the dedication and contributions of outstanding nurses in Wisconsin.
