College students from five colleges and universities in northeast Wisconsin are gearing up to compete for $50,000 in prize money at The Pitch, a startup business pitch competition set to take place on April 24 at The Fox Club at Fox Cities Stadium. The annual event, organized by Fox Connection, aims to enhance entrepreneurial education and opportunity for students in the region.
According to Fox Connection, the competition will follow a shark-tank-style format, beginning at 4 p.m., with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, welcoming a diverse audience including students, community members, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors.
The top three finishers in The Pitch will share a total of $50,000 in cash and in-kind prizes. The breakdown of prizes includes $10,000 plus in-kind prizes for the first-place winner, $7,500 plus in-kind prizes for the second-place winner, and $5,000 plus in-kind prizes for the third-place winner.
Among the participants are Safiya Grant, a senior biology major, presenting her startup Muse, an all-natural skincare line tailored for women of Caribbean heritage, and Nathaniel Smith, a double major in business & entrepreneurship and film studies, showcasing his startup Thrive in Humility, a Christian apparel brand with integrated technology. Both students advanced to The Pitch after securing top positions in their respective school competitions.
