University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Radio TV Film students have recently achieved great success at the annual conference of the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association. The students brought home seven Eric Sevareid Awards, recognizing excellence in student and professional broadcast journalism across six states.
According to Andrew Smock, associate professor and chair of the UWO Radio TV Film department, the students earned these regional awards of excellence for their work produced for and aired on 90.3 WRST-FM. Smock expressed his delight in the accomplishments of the students, stating, "Adding the awards to the 13, including six first place awards, won in February at the annual Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Seminar, it’s been a good spring for WRST."
The UWO RTF students received three first place awards in the categories of Talk/Public Affairs, Evening Newscast, and Sportscast/Program. Additionally, they were awarded four awards of merit in categories of Hard Feature and Sportscast/Program. The successful outcomes at both the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association conference and the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Seminar highlight the dedication and talent of the students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
This recognition underscores the high quality of content produced by the UWO Radio TV Film students and the value of their contributions to the field of broadcast journalism.
