Ken Loest, a UW Oshkosh alumni from the class of '70 and '78, is retiring from teaching math after 51 years. He will give a farewell speech at Glenbeulah High School before embarking on travels with his wife Carol. George Kroeninger, a class of '84 graduate, has been appointed as the inaugural executive director of professional education at Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Erin Murphy, who graduated in '85, has taken on the role of Senate majority leader in Minnesota. Meanwhile, Maurice Wince, class of '95, and his wife received a $25,000 grant for their grocery store aimed at addressing food desert issues in Milwaukee.
In the arts and entertainment field, Tom Swigert from the class of '97 has joined the Part Time Models band as the lead trumpet, while Stephen Powers, a '98 graduate, has published his fourth poetry collection. John Schroeder, class of '91, is leading the planning committee for an upcoming convention.
Sports enthusiasts will be interested to know that William Krautkramer, '01 alum, has been appointed as the head coach of the Kaukauna girls soccer team. Melissa Johnston, class of '02, has been serving as the licensed athletic trainer at Berlin High School for 21 years.
In other news, Timothy Ziegler, a '06 graduate, has worked on editing various documentary series, and Kevin Chevalier, '07 alumnus, has been named an associate at McMahon. Jeff Potts from the classes of '07 and '16 has been hired as the managing director for GableStage Theatre.
Jessica Johnson, '09 graduate, has been selected as the principal of a local elementary school, while Tanya Reynen from the class of '12 has been appointed as the fire chief of a city. Rebecca O'Connell, also from the class of '12, has been working as a nurse and is pursuing a master's degree.
Daniel Zamost, '15 alumnus, will become the principal of Ripon Middle School, and Ryan Steiskal, class of '15, has an upcoming gallery opening on campus. Samuel Pedersen, '19 graduate, has been hired as a volleyball coach, and Alixandria Talady, '21 alumna, is a fourth-grade teacher who received an award for her service. Reagan Fritts, '22 graduate, is working as a social media coordinator.
