Forever a Lawrentian, a celebration of connections between Lawrence University students and alumni, will be on full display across campus April 11-13.
The program, which was a hit when it launched a year ago, aims to foster conversations between LUAA members and current students through various activities such as one-on-one conversations, networking lunches, alumni panel discussions, and casual events with giveaways of Lawrence gear. Among the events planned for this year's celebration are a networking presentation and reception, a gathering to cheer on seniors, Career Community Round Tables, and alumni Q&A panels.
Junior international relations major Bruna Velez expressed the value of connecting with alumni, stating, "No matter what year you are or what major you are, all students can benefit from the connections that Forever a Lawrentian will help to build." Velez encouraged her classmates not to miss out on this opportunity to learn and lean on the Lawrentian community.
Alison Guthrie, owner of Allegro Academy of Music in Milwaukee and co-chair of the Connecting to Campus Committee of LUAA, emphasized the importance of creating a supportive atmosphere for students along their career journey through events like Forever a Lawrentian. Guthrie highlighted the potential for inspiring synergy between students and alumni.
Matt Baumler, associate vice president of Alumni and Community Engagement, noted that the continuation of the Forever a Lawrentian program into its second year is a step towards establishing it as a Lawrence tradition. Baumler described Forever a Lawrentian as more than just a saying, stating, "Forever a Lawrentian speaks to the power and potential of our collective community."
The program encourages students and alumni to engage with the Lawrentian community, build connections, and explore opportunities for mentorship and networking. As Baumler emphasized, "You are a student for four or five years; you are Forever a Lawrentian."
