Interest in Police Recruit Academy Remains Strong
The December 2022 graduation of the FVTC Law Enforcement Academy was a milestone: It was first time that every graduate was hired upon graduation.
Given the shortage of police officers in Wisconsin, perhaps this comes as no surprise. It’s a career path fewer people are interested in pursuing in recent years, so agencies are competing more for officers. However, what is surprising is that enrollment numbers at Fox Valley Technical College haven’t waned. Interest is stronger than ever in training at our Public Safety Training Center.
Academy Director Tim Hufschmid explains, “I attend conferences with other academy directors throughout the state, and that’s not the case all over the state. We’re unique here because of one, our facility, and two, I think we’re in the central part of the state where we have a lot of people wanting to come to Fox Valley for their law enforcement training.”
