5

Fox Valley Technical College issued the following announcement on Sept. 23

Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities has recognized Rayon Brown with the Unsung Hero Award for his work with Imagine Fox Cities. Rayon serves as the vice president for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and interim vice president for Student Services at Fox Valley Technical College.

Imagine Fox Cities is an inclusive community-wide initiative working to help shape the future of the Fox Cities. It recently completed a community survey where it asked individuals to weigh in on how they’ve personally been feeling about finances, mental health, life purpose and social support during the pandemic and beyond. The survey was done in spring and results will be released later this fall.

Rayon and Dr. Kimberly Barrett, former vice president for Diversity and Inclusion and associate dean of faculty at Lawrence University, are both being honored for their efforts with this visioning project.

“To be recognized by Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities is an honor and a privilege,” Rayon says. “This recognition also serves as a reminder that great opportunities still exist in our region to create a community where all people can be comfortable and proud to call home.”
