The Oshkosh Area School District is celebrating the accomplishments of Wave Robotics Team 2826, which includes students from Oshkosh North and Oshkosh West High Schools. The team has wrapped up a noteworthy season, achieving success at both regional and global competitions in April.
During the Wisconsin Regional held in Milwaukee from April 4-6, Team 2826 achieved a perfect 10-0 record in the qualification matches, becoming the only undefeated team in that phase. Although they advanced as the second alliance captain, they were eliminated in the playoffs. Apart from their competitive success, the team won the Engineering Inspiration Award, an accolade that has been a longstanding goal for them. This award guaranteed their spot at the FIRST World Championship in Houston for the second consecutive year.
At the World Championship from April 16-19, Wave Robotics joined over 600 teams from around the world, competing in the Johnson Division with 74 other teams. Despite difficult matches that affected their standings, they were selected to join Alliance 6, captained by Team 1325 (Inverse Paradox from Canada), as the fourth member.
The team's marketing efforts included creating custom travel shirts and distributing good-luck items like squeaky sharks, keychains, and shark earrings. These efforts were well-received and complemented the "Reefscape" theme of the competition.
Wave Robotics extends heartfelt thanks to their families, friends, sponsors, and the Oshkosh community for their support throughout the season.
The Oshkosh Recreation Department, part of the Oshkosh Area School District, offers several robotics programs: FIRST LEGO League Explore for grades 2-4, FIRST LEGO League Challenge for grades 4-8, and Youth Wave Robotics for high school students. More information is available at the Oshkosh Recreation Department website.
