ThedaCare is set to inaugurate ThedaCare Medical Center-Fond du Lac, marking its ninth hospital in the health system. The facility will begin receiving patients on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The construction of the health campus commenced in February of the previous year.

"ThedaCare Medical Center-Fond du Lac expands convenient access to care for those living in northeast and central Wisconsin," stated Robert Cavagnol, North Region President of Froedtert ThedaCare Health. "This campus extends the trusted medical care we currently provide the people of this area. It also gives us an opportunity to ensure access to higher levels of care when needed – which can be done as part of our larger integrated system."

Strategically situated at 755 W. Johnson St., the campus is in proximity to a retail district near Interstate 41, making it accessible for the region's residents.

"When we explored the opportunity to create a new health campus in Fond du Lac, we aimed to understand the needs of this community," Jenny Nikolai, Vice President of ThedaCare Medical Centers-Fond du Lac and Oshkosh, commented. "We know that demand for access to care continues to grow in Fond du Lac, where city and county populations have steadily increased over the past decade. We’re grateful that our health care system now has the opportunity to enhance high-quality, safe care for this community."

The campus, a 25,000-square-foot facility, represents an estimated $35 million investment. It includes an Emergency Department (ED), 10 inpatient beds, and 24/7 emergency medical services. Further care services such as CT scans, x-ray, and ultrasound with outpatient access will be available along with select specialty care, including cardiovascular services.

The hospital will operate round the clock, every day of the year. Nikolai emphasized that the design focused on patient and family needs. "Throughout all of the planning, design work and detail – it’s all focused on our patients and community members. Our goal is to meet patients where they are – where they live, work and enjoy life."

The layout includes a designated ED entrance, eight ED beds, and centralized workstations for staff. "During an emergency situation – minutes count," Dr. Cavagnol pointed out. "In those instances, time is critical. Our goal is that people understand ThedaCare Medical Center-Fond du Lac is a location where they can receive emergent care when they need it most. If a higher level of care is required, we will work within our comprehensive system to get that person to the right location."

Additional services may be integrated in the future based on the community's needs. The construction involved Hplex Solutions as the owner representative, HGA for architectural and engineering design, Miron Construction Co., Inc. as the construction manager, and the Sigma Group as the civil engineer and landscape architect. These firms contributed to the development of the campus over the past year.
