UW Oshkosh remembers alumni and faculty who passed away recently

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has published an obituary notice for its alumni, covering the month of April 2025. The obituaries detail the passing of former students, faculty, and staff from various decades, spanning from the 1950s to the 1990s, with some faculty and friends also remembered.

From the 1950s, Louise (Bisser) Dieck, an EHS graduate in 1957 from Fox Point, passed on February 22, 2025. Barbara (Drahn) Swan, a double alumnus with degrees in EHS (1957) and LS (1972), died on March 1, 2025, in Oshkosh.

In the 1960s, Richard “Dick” Anderson from Wild Rose, an LS graduate in 1968, died on February 16, 2025. Mary Hochkammer, holder of a Master's of Science in Education from 1969, passed on March 14, 2025, in Manitowoc. Other alumni from this decade include Joan Nyenhuis from Madison, Don O'Hearn from Dana Point, Judith (Kasten) Ostrenga from Little Suamico, and Arthur Webb from Appleton.

From the 1970s, Gary Ertl, a nursing graduate (1973) from Coloma, died on March 9, 2025. Renee Frazier Morrison, an EHS alumna from 1976, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Kenosha. Violet “Bonnie” Williams from Rio, an EHS graduate in 1972, died on February 13, 2025.

The 1980s include the passing of Christopher Caldwell from Chicago on February 14, 2025, Kaye (Koenig) Dietrich from Kiel on March 17, 2025, Steven Platteter from Janesville on February 27, 2025, and Helen Wittenberg from Oshkosh on February 22, 2025.

Sr. Annette Koss, an alumna from 1992, passed away on February 20, 2025, in Green Bay.

Among the university's faculty and friends, Carol Bischoff, a former assistant dean of students from 1969 to 1972, passed on October 18, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida. John Burr, a philosophy professor from 1964 to 2018, died in Oshkosh on March 28, 2025. Shirley White, an associate professor from 1964 to 2005, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Stillwater, Minnesota.
