Oshkosh Area School District had the highest enrollment among Winnebago County districts, welcoming 9,113 students during the 2023-24 academic year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.6% of them were boys, and 0% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 93.8% of the Oshkosh Area School District's total enrollment.

Among the five districts in Winnebago County, Neenah Joint School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 6,497 students, while Menasha Joint School District welcomed 3,178 students and ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Oshkosh Area School District roughly covers schools within Winnebago County, with its main office in Oshkosh.

In the previous school year, Oshkosh Area School District also had the highest number of students among Winnebago County districts.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
