Research.com has recognized Lawrence University in its 2024 rankings for "Best Fine Arts Degree Programs in America." The university is ranked higher than all other public and private colleges in Wisconsin, except the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The organization praised Lawrence for its "dedication to academic excellence and student satisfaction" within its fine arts programming. This program includes disciplines such as art, museum studies, music, poetry, and performing arts.
"It was granted after a meticulous analysis of a wide range of metrics conducted by a team of experienced data scientists," Research.com stated upon releasing the rankings. "This rigorous process ensures that the award truly reflects the institution's commitment to providing an exceptional fine arts education and fostering an enriching environment for its students."
Beth Zinsli ’02, assistant professor of art history and curator of the Wriston Art Center Galleries at Lawrence University, commented on this recognition. She said it highlights Lawrence’s focus on fine arts throughout campus. "Lawrence students engage with fine art in a multitude of ways: in the galleries, in the studios, through internship experiences, even on a stroll across campus where they can encounter various public sculptures," she explained. "Whether as the focus of their studies and future careers or for a moment of personal enrichment and peace, fine arts permeate many aspects of the Lawrence experience."
This honor coincides with Lawrence celebrating 150 years of excellence at its Conservatory of Music.
Nationally, Lawrence ranked No. 310; regionally it placed No. 68 in the Midwest; within Wisconsin, it achieved No. 4 status behind only UW-Madison's doctorate, master's, and bachelor's programs.
