A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Woodville, Wisconsin, on November 7, 2024. The request, submitted by Fox Cities News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks access to public records regarding new voter registrations.
Specifically, we at Fox Cities News are requesting a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024. This information is being sought under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we have requested that it be provided in an electronic format for ease of access and analysis.
As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the community, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a response from the Town of Woodville and will continue to keep our readers informed about developments in this matter.
