A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Vinland, Wisconsin, on November 7, 2024. The request pertains to the registration records of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
The request was made by Fox Cities News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. In the interest of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Fox Cities News sought access to these public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
As part of our ongoing commitment to serving the public's right to know, we requested these records preferably in an electronic format. We believe that access to such information is crucial for our work as journalists and news providers.
Given our role in gathering and disseminating information to the public, we also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional. This provision allows us to continue our work without undue financial burden.
