Lawrence University is set to host the inaugural New North ESG Summit on May 2, bringing together corporate and community leaders in northeast Wisconsin to delve into the realm of sustainability and the significance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.
"We are ecstatic to be collaborating with New North on this ESG Summit," expressed Carter Robinson, Lawrence’s sustainability coordinator. "Creating space for learning and discussion is what institutions of higher learning specialize in, so it is exciting to work with an organization that is facilitating such a space for local leaders."
Garrett Singer, special assistant to the president, highlighted that the summit provides Lawrence students with the chance for career discernment and exploration, contributing to the university's dedication to thought leadership, sustainability, and social impact in the region.
The summit, organized by New North Inc. and the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council, aims to delve into ESG practices, which encompass governance mechanisms, environmental impacts, and social impacts of companies. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore best ESG practices through presentations, panel discussions, and roundtable conversations at Lawrence's Warch Campus Center from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Among the companies presenting their sustainability initiatives are U.S. Venture, Plexus, Faith Technologies Inc. (FTI), and Menominee Tribal Enterprises. Panel discussions will cover topics such as Sustainability Program Basics, Data-Driven Sustainability, Energy and Greenhouse Gas, and Sustainability and Workforce, providing a platform for industry leaders and students to engage and learn from each other.
