Alison Scott-Williams to Join Lawrence University as Executive Vice President and COO

Alison Scott-Williams, a longtime leader in arts education, is set to join Lawrence University as its executive vice president and chief operating officer. Scott-Williams will assume her new role in June, with occasional visits to campus before then.

In her new position, Scott-Williams will oversee the development, stewardship, and operation of campus services and programs aimed at supporting campus growth and fiscal health. She will be responsible for guiding efforts to enhance operations and infrastructure while bolstering planning and collaboration at Lawrence University. President Laurie A. Carter expressed excitement about Scott-Williams's appointment, stating, "We are thrilled to bring someone with Alison’s experience, vision, and leadership skills to Lawrence in this vital position."

Scott-Williams brings a wealth of experience to Lawrence University, having previously served as the president of Studio in a School NYC, where she led art instruction for over 175 New York City Title 1 Public Schools. Reflecting on her new role, Scott-Williams expressed eagerness to support the goals and aspirations of the Lawrence University community, saying, "As a proud native of the Midwest and a graduate of a liberal arts institution, I am enthusiastic about championing the goals and dreams of Lawrence University’s students, faculty, and staff."

Prior to her role at Studio NYC, Scott-Williams held leadership positions at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and The Juilliard School in New York City. She holds advanced degrees in voice performance and opera theater, as well as a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration. Additionally, Scott-Williams completed a leadership fellowship with American Express and earned a Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia University Business School’s Senior Leadership Program for Not-for-Profit Professionals.
