Lawrence University issued the following announcement on Dec. 4

The Lawrence University women's hockey team hung with Aurora University for half the game on Saturday before the Spartans pulled away for a 6-0 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory at the Appleton Ice Center.

Lawrence held the high-powered Spartans scoreless for the first 28-plus minutes before Aurora got on the board with a power-play goal at the 8:27 mark of the second period. The Spartans then struck quickly, picking up a goal at 9:43 and adding another power-play tally at 11:40 to push the lead to 3-0.

Aurora (8-2-0, 4-2-0 NCHA) then scored just 1:56 into the second period and added another goal at the 5:20 mark. The Spartans picked up another power-play goal midway through the period to close out the scoring. Aurora went 3-for-8 on the power play, and the Vikings (0-9-0, 0-4-0) were 0-for-4.

Lawrence goaltender Sydney Seeley kept the Vikings in it by making 27 saves in the opening period and 22 more in the second. She finished with 50 saves before giving way to Charlie Prior, who stopped 21 shots in the third period.

Chiari Pfosi stopped 10 shots to pick up the shutout for Aurora.

The Vikings don't return to action until Dec. 31 when they host UW-Stevens Point.
