The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh has announced the passing of several alumni and faculty members. The university community remembers these individuals for their contributions and achievements.
Among those who have passed are Thelma (Roderick) Wilber, an alumna from the class of 1949, who died on May 20, 2025, in Milpitas, California. Maureen (Ryan) Kersten and Kenneth Ruesink, both from the class of 1958, passed away in late April 2025. Sue (Bennett) Rumlow, a double alumna with degrees in 1954 and 1965, died on April 11, 2025.
The ’60s alumni include Thomas Baye from Green Bay and Alma “Susie” Frohman from Wautoma. Howard Gilbert and Robert Karisny also passed away this spring. Susan (Bleifuss) Macisak and James Meyer were among those remembered from this era.
From the ’70s cohort, Sandra (Henning) Belgram and Charles “Chuck” Bongers were noted for their contributions to their communities. Others such as Rose Collier and Bette (Brecklin) Craanen also left lasting legacies.
In more recent years, Laura (Durkee) Todd from the class of ’89 was mourned by her peers. Gail Cole and Joan Roehrig were remembered by friends and family for their professional accomplishments.
Mary Willett from the class of ’09 is also listed among those who have recently passed away.
Additionally, former faculty members Lorraine (Pfeiffer) Gerhart, Cheryl Green, and Paul Klemp were acknowledged for their roles at UW-Oshkosh. Their dedication to education left a significant impact on students over the years.
The university extends its condolences to all families affected by these losses.
