Froedtert ThedaCare has officially opened the ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh, expanding health care services in the Oshkosh area. Located at 250 W. 6th Avenue, the new hospital is part of ongoing redevelopment in the neighborhood and was built to address a gap in local medical services.

Jenny Nikolai, Vice President of ThedaCare Medical Centers-Fond du Lac and Oshkosh, said that most Oshkosh residents live east of Interstate 41 while many health care facilities are on the west side. “Most of the patient population and the population of Oshkosh lives east of Interstate 41, with health care services primarily west of I-41,” Nikolai explained. “That historically has left our population on the east side more than 15 minutes away from care that they may need. We know in an emergency that time matters and minutes count. Providing health care services close to home where over 73% of the population lives and works, allows us to meet their needs more quickly.”

Nikolai added that this project demonstrates ThedaCare’s commitment to supporting regional wellness: “This new campus is truly indicative of our commitment to the Oshkosh community. Our investment here is a commitment to our long-term plan to support the health and wellness of people in the region, enabling them to live their unique, best lives.”

A grand opening event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Dr. Imran Andrabi (President and CEO of Froedtert ThedaCare), Rebecca Grill (City Manager for Oshkosh), Jenny Nikolai, Dr. William Kumprey (Associate Chief Medical Officer of Emergency Medicine), and Lynn Detterman (President of North Region for Froedtert ThedaCare).

The facility offers around-the-clock care every day throughout the year and occupies about 114,000 square feet. The project represents an $84 million investment in Oshkosh.

Services provided at the new campus include emergency care available at all hours, inpatient and outpatient surgery options, primary and pediatric care, specialty services, drive-thru pharmacy access, imaging such as CT scans and MRIs, mammography, ultrasound diagnostics, nuclear medicine capabilities, as well as laboratory testing.

At its recent grand opening event, visitors were able to tour parts of the hospital—including areas featuring new technologies like a surgical robot and CT scanner.

To prepare for future community needs, ThedaCare expanded its original design by adding a third floor measuring 28,000 square feet; additional services could be introduced over time based on demand.

“We’re here to meet our patients where they are and provide the right care for them, in the right place, at the right time,” Nikolai said. “Our patients, their families and the community were always top of mind when planning our new campus. We’ve actively developed services around them as a sign of our commitment to ensuring they can receive the quality of care they expect and deserve.”

Construction partners for this project included Miron Construction Company Inc., HGA Architects & Engineers Inc., and Hplex Solutions Inc.

Groundbreaking for ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh took place in March 2024. Approximately 60 jobs have been created so far at this location; further hiring is expected as additional services are introduced.
