Tammy Pethan, longtime secretary of the Chilton Chamber of Commerce, died unexpectedly at her home on July 7, 2025. She was 61 years old.

Pethan had been a part of the Chamber for more than 25 years, playing an important role in its activities and forming lasting relationships within the organization. According to a statement from the Chamber, "Tammy was an integral part of the Chilton Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years. Her commitment and devotion to our organization has been extraordinary to say the least. Many lasting friendships were established in those 25 years and she will be greatly missed by many."

Born July 29, 1963 in Chilton, Pethan was married to Michael J. Pethan and was active in both her church and local community groups. She managed office operations at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton and helped organize various church functions. Pethan also played a key role in founding the Chilton Booster Club and managing the Chilton Youth Football program.

During her tenure with the Chamber of Commerce, Pethan established the Crafty Apple Fest, an annual event held in Chilton.

Her family includes her mother Carol; husband Michael; children Jordan (Karen), Tyler, Preston (Dana), Daynen (Abigail); grandchildren Leah, Hannah, Morgan, Cooper & Beau; as well as other relatives and friends.

The family expressed thanks to first responders, police officers, paramedics, medical examiner Mike Klaeser, and Rev. Thomas Schmitt for their assistance and support.

“You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, or you can be full of the love that you shared,” read a statement from Tammy’s family.
