On Thursday, July 10, 2025, Steve Jones delivered a series of talks at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium to the Oshkosh West High School's athletic community. Jones, who previously achieved significant success as head football coach at Kimberly High School, has transitioned into a leadership coach and keynote speaker. He shared insights on fostering strong team cultures.

Jones' reputation was established during his time at Kimberly High School in Wisconsin, where he led the football program to a record of 129-9 and five state championships. This experience laid the groundwork for his current work with Fortune 500 companies and professional sports teams. In 2022, he left high school coaching to reach a wider audience.

At Oshkosh West, Jones held three sessions aimed at different audiences: coaches, parents and families, and student-athletes. Each session focused on positive team culture and student leadership but was tailored to resonate with each group specifically.

For coaches, Jones emphasized building trust and collaboration among athletes. Parents were encouraged to support their children in leadership roles by reflecting on personal experiences of receiving help from trusted adults or peers. Student-athletes were challenged to consider what defines team culture and individual leadership.

During a digital survey, students anonymously shared thoughts that hindered their leadership potential. Many cited fears of judgment and failure as obstacles. Jones used this feedback in his book "The Twin Thieves," which addresses overcoming self-doubt.

Students expressed appreciation for Jones’ message about mindset changes from “I’ve got to” to “I get to,” influencing their perspective on opportunities.

Oshkosh West thanked Steve Jones for reinforcing its core values of Integrity, Excellence, Leadership, Pride, and Inspire. Special thanks were extended to teachers Jessie Hansen and Jack Breese and activities coordinator Brad Jodarski for organizing the event. Sponsors included West Pointe Bank, Wildcat Cafe, and Community for Hope.
