ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton has received reaccreditation as a Chest Pain Center with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and Resuscitation. The medical center's Cardiac Catheterization Lab also earned similar recognition. These reaccreditations from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) follow comprehensive onsite evaluations of the facility’s capabilities in assessing, diagnosing, and treating cardiac emergencies.

Additionally, the facility was awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence after consistently meeting accreditation standards and maintaining ongoing performance registry reporting. "We are very proud to have our program recognized in this way," stated Shalon Edson, Vice President of ThedaCare Cardiovascular Care. Edson emphasized the dedication of their cardiovascular team in providing high-quality care.

The ACC awards recognize facilities with exceptional competency in treating heart attack symptoms and offering lifesaving interventions around the clock. The HeartCARE Center distinction highlights a commitment to quality cardiovascular care through process improvement, specific accreditations, professional excellence, and community engagement.

According to Callie Leahy, BSN, RN, Chest Pain Coordinator and Quality Specialist at ThedaCare, these achievements underscore the level of cardiac care available at ThedaCare facilities. She noted that these honors reassure patients about the quality of care they can expect during a cardiac emergency.

ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton first gained accreditation as a Chest Pain Center in 2015 and for its Cardiac Cath Lab in 2018. Both Edson and Leahy stress the importance of being aware of heart health and encourage individuals to discuss it with healthcare providers for better long-term cardiovascular outcomes.
