Construction is progressing at the new ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh, which aims to enhance healthcare access for residents in northeast and central Wisconsin. The facility, located at 250 W. 6th Avenue on the Fox River in downtown Oshkosh, is part of a broader redevelopment effort in the area.
The decision to establish the medical center was based on research indicating a need for additional services in the community. "As we were planning, we found that nearly 73% of Oshkosh’s residents live east of Interstate 41, while most of the current health care services are located west," explained Lynn Detterman, North Region President, Froedtert ThedaCare Health. "That means those living on the east-side of the Oshkosh area are more than 15 minutes away from a hospital or emergency room."
Significant construction milestones have been achieved since groundbreaking in March 2024. These include flooring installation, initial painting, vinyl wallcovering within the hospital, completion of exterior glasswork, asphalt paving, landscaping initiation, and near completion of concrete curbs and sidewalks. The project is expected to be completed by late 2025.
The facility will offer comprehensive care around the clock and will feature emergency care, inpatient beds with 24/7 coverage, and various radiology services such as CT scans and MRI. Additional facilities include a drive-thru retail pharmacy and an ambulatory surgery center.
Jenny Nikolai, Vice President of ThedaCare Medical Centers-Fond du Lac and Oshkosh said: “The new campus also rounds out clinical care we have been providing the Oshkosh community for years." To meet evolving community needs, plans now include a third floor addition to the original design.
