Senator Rob Hutton from Brookfield expressed his views on the recent budget vote. He emphasized his commitment to advocating for tax cuts, stating that he has aimed to return tax dollars to Wisconsin taxpayers. According to Hutton, "the Republican-led legislature on at least three separate occasions presented proposals that would have provided important income tax relief" but were vetoed by Governor Evers.

Hutton criticized the current budget for leveraging these vetoes to conceal a 12% increase in spending and creating a $1.2 billion deficit, which he believes will negatively impact Wisconsin families. He commended his GOP colleagues for their efforts to control what he described as the Governor's excessive spending.

He stressed the importance of making prudent spending decisions during economic uncertainty, arguing for a budget that prioritizes spending wisely and benefits taxpayers. Hutton concluded by reaffirming his readiness to work towards reducing the tax burden on Wisconsin citizens and small businesses, asserting that keeping more money with taxpayers leads to greater prosperity for the state.
