Mary Manchester honored with UW-Oshkosh STAR Award

The University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh has recognized Mary Manchester, an administrative assistant in the College of Nursing, with a STAR Award. This award acknowledges her exceptional contributions and dedication to her role.

The STAR Awards are designed to honor University Staff members, limited-term employees, and project appointment employees who exceed their typical job responsibilities.

Mary Manchester was nominated for the May 2025 award by Dean Seon Yoon Chung. According to Chung, "Mary Manchester has demonstrated exceptional dedication and contributions to the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh (UWO) College of Nursing, making her a deserving candidate for the UWO STAR award." Her significant role in organizing events such as the Nightingale Awards was highlighted as part of her achievements.

Chung elaborated on Manchester's involvement: "For instance, she was instrumental in organizing the Nightingale Awards event, which recognizes and celebrates nursing excellence." Her tasks included managing invitations, nominations, plaques for awardees, creating videos for nominees and winners, and overseeing the event day operations.

Beyond event organization, Manchester's duties encompass creating social media content, designing digital video cards and mailers for fundraising events like Day of Giving. She also manages social media accounts and collaborates with UWO's marketing team on communication materials. Additionally, she has been involved in updating websites for accreditation visits and using AI tools to enhance administrative efficiency.

Dean Chung emphasized that "Mary Manchester’s consistent efforts and dedication to continuous improvement and contribution to the institution make her a strong candidate for the UWO STAR award."

Manchester’s work exemplifies commitment beyond standard expectations within her department at UW–Oshkosh.
