The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh has released a list of alumni who passed away in recent months. Covering a range of graduation years from the 1950s to the 2000s, the list includes graduates from various fields including Education and Human Services (EHS), Liberal Studies (LS), and Business (B).
Among the alumni from the 1950s, Donald “Don” Kircher, who graduated in 1959, passed away in Laona on March 26, 2025.
The 1960s alumni listed include Dennis Highfield, who graduated in 1969, from Gilbert, Arizona, and Helen Ziegler, a 1960 and 1974 graduate from Baraboo, who passed away on March 31, 2025, and April 7, 2025, respectively.
Several individuals from the 1970s were noted, such as Gerald Akstulewicz from Menasha, Robert “Rob” Bredendick from Milwaukee, Sue (Moore) Boers from Ontonagon, Michigan, and Susan Brown from Neenah. Their passing dates range from March 18 to April 9, 2025. Lee Keller, Helmuth “Gus” Kosbab, Robert E. Last, Stephen Lenz, Lola Mader, James Murphy, Robert “Bob” Novitski, Carlos Perez, Raul Reyes, and Mary Rosenthal are also among the 1970s alumni who have passed.
From the 1980s, William “Bill” Lockery, who graduated in 1986, passed away in Green Bay on March 20, 2025. Michael Walsh, a 1981 graduate from Oshkosh, died earlier in the year on January 24, 2025.
The most recent alumnus mentioned is Debra Mapes from West Bend, who graduated in 2006. She passed away on April 2, 2025.
These announcements serve as a respectful remembrance of the former students who made up part of the UW-Oshkosh community.
