Educators from the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) and Appleton Area School District (AASD) participated in the second annual Teachers in Sneakers charity basketball game on January 26, 2025. The event, hosted by the Wisconsin Herd at Oshkosh Arena, saw increased participation from both districts.
The OASD team expanded to fifteen players this year, with Marina Kodet returning as head coach. The roster included a mix of returning and new players such as Jacob Beno, Anthony Miller, Patrick Griffith, and Cole Yoder among others.
The game was marked by athleticism and skill from both teams. During breaks, spectators engaged in games for prizes. At halftime, Oshkosh led Appleton 55-23. In the second half, both teams exchanged points frequently. Young children joined in during the final minute of play. Ultimately, Oshkosh secured a victory over Appleton with a score of 95-72.
Following the game, an award ceremony took place where Team OASD received the Teachers in Sneakers trophy. Cole Yoder was named MVP and awarded a plaque.
Funds raised from the event were donated equally to education foundations in Oshkosh and Appleton. Collectively representing over 229 years of educational experience, participants highlighted their commitment to community building through education.
