ThedaCare is organizing a Resolve Through Sharing Candlelight Memorial service to support families who have experienced infant loss. This event, scheduled for December 18, 2024, at the Best Western Bridgewood Resort and Conference Center in Neenah, aims to provide a space for parents to honor their children and connect with others facing similar grief.

Ashley Ebert, Family Birth Care Charge RN and Resolve Through Sharing Bereavement Coordinator for ThedaCare, emphasized the importance of this gathering. "Our hope is that we’re bringing these families together to allow them to memorialize a part of their life that might not always be recognized or truly understood by others," Ebert said. "We want to provide a day for these families to take time, and recognize what they have experienced."

Ebert highlighted the unique challenges faced by those grieving pregnancy loss. "Many times, this kind of loss is often silent or unspoken," she noted. The event will include a reflection speaker sharing personal experiences of loss and resilience.

Families will participate in a candle-lighting ceremony and receive gifts like roses and angel ornaments. Attendees are encouraged to donate toys in memory of their babies, which will go to the Salvation Army of the Fox Valley.

Bereavement coordinators and chaplains will offer support before and after the event. Families unable to attend can request an angel ornament by contacting RTS@thedacare.org.
