University announces passing of notable UW Oshkosh alumni

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has announced the passing of several alumni and former faculty members. These individuals, who graduated from various decades, have left a mark on their communities and professions.

From the 1950s, Mary Clark, a 1957 graduate from Menominee, Michigan, passed away on September 29. Richard Mitchell, class of 1959 from Menasha, died on August 25.

In the 1960s cohort, Lee Murphy from Menasha passed away on October 6. Marilyn (Stark) Patrick from Waupun died on October 20. Sandra (Wise) Wamser of West Bend departed this life on September 12.

Alumni from the 1970s include David Evans who graduated in both '71 and '81; he was from Appleton and passed away on September 19. Mark Gieringer of Coloma died on September 25. Mary Ann Wreschnig from Manistee, Michigan passed away on September 22.

From the alumni of the '80s, Georgia Bowman who earned degrees in '81, '83, and '85 passed away in Appleton on October 9. Carol (Floodstrand) Hartman also from Appleton died on October 4. Darlene Sands of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on October 13.

Among those graduating in the '90s was Joel Jeanquart who died in Algoma on October 15.

In more recent years, Terrence “Terry” Rastall completed his MBA in 2006; he was from Peshtigo and passed away on September 24.

Additionally noted is Martin Gruberg's passing. He served as Chair of the UWO Political Science Department for several decades until his retirement in Oshkosh; he died on October 9.
