The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) and the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce recently held the first event in the Chamber's Link2Learn networking series. The breakfast meeting took place on September 27 at Oshkosh West High School, bringing together OASD career and technical education (CTE) teachers with local business leaders to foster collaborations aimed at improving students' career readiness.

The Link2Learn initiative seeks to build partnerships that benefit both students and local businesses. The event featured discussions, presentations, and opportunities for future collaboration.

Participants engaged in a networking breakfast where OASD CTE teachers, instructional support teachers, and curriculum coordinators met with business partners. Vicki Porior, OASD CTE Curriculum Coordinator, presented on "Cultivating Partnerships through Career-Based Learning Experiences (CBLEs)."

Attendees also experienced a student showcase featuring culinary creations from OASD students. Business partners and educators toured CTE classrooms at Oshkosh West to learn about current educational initiatives.

A new resource introduced at the event was the CTE Partnering for Progress Flipbook. This tool is designed to connect local businesses with OASD CTE teachers by detailing their classes and resource needs.

Vicki Porior shared her enthusiasm about the event: "It's inspiring to see educators and business leaders coming together with such passion and commitment to our students' futures. We're already seeing the potential for innovative projects and hands-on experiences that will benefit both our students and local industries."

Businesses interested in supporting career and technical education in Oshkosh public schools are encouraged to contact Vicki Porior or visit the district's website for more information.
