The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) recently held its first Community Feedback Session on September 24 at South Park Middle School. The event was part of an ongoing effort to involve the community in the district's facilities planning, particularly Phase 2 of a four-phase consolidation plan.

Superintendent Davis began the session with a presentation outlining the district’s current and future facilities planning efforts. Attendees were given the opportunity to view or download the presentation slides for further reference.

Following the presentation, there was a Q&A session where community members engaged directly with district leadership, asking questions and sharing their thoughts. Many participants also took part in a guided tour of South Park Middle School to gain insights into the existing learning environments.

During the tour, several key observations were made:

- Participants noted limitations in current learning spaces.

- Accessibility challenges were highlighted, showing that the building is not optimally designed for those with accessibility needs.

- The complex layout of the building was discussed, particularly how students on the third floor must navigate downstairs and across levels to reach other parts of the same floor.

- Space constraints in classrooms were commonly observed.

- There was a recognized need for updates in STEM and technology spaces.

These observations served as a starting point for discussions about how school facilities can better support education within the district.

The OASD encourages continued community participation in upcoming feedback sessions. Future sessions are scheduled as follows:

- Monday, September 30 at 6:30 PM at Oshkosh North (1100 W Smith Ave)

- Thursday, October 10 at 6:30 PM at Vel Phillips Middle (1401 Kentucky St)

- Wednesday, October 16 at 6:30 PM at Menominee Elementary (915 Hazel St)

- Thursday, October 17 at 7:30 AM at Oshkosh Downtown YMCA (324 Washington Ave) - Recently added

- Wednesday, October 23 at Noon at Oshkosh Public Library - Meeting Room AB (106 Washington Ave) - Recently added

- Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30 PM at Oakwood Elementary (1225 N Oakwood Rd)

Each session will include a presentation followed by a guided tour of the host location to provide attendees with firsthand insights into current conditions and future needs of OASD schools. Additional sessions are being planned to accommodate diverse schedules and will be announced on both this page and the district's Facebook page.
