On Tuesday, September 4, the Oshkosh Area School District welcomed Governor Tony Evers to Jefferson Elementary School as part of his statewide back-to-school tour.

During the visit, Governor Evers toured the school alongside Principal Amy Ashton and Superintendent Bryan Davis. Throughout the tour, the governor had the opportunity to interact with students and staff. He cheered on an exciting Hoop Hop Showdown - a rock, paper, scissors hula hoop activity in gym class, enjoyed a music session, explored the school library, and chatted with fourth and fifth graders in their classrooms. His presence was a boost of encouragement, and he took time to discuss the learning experiences and aspirations of Jefferson students.

The Governor wrapped up his visit by joining Jefferson’s youngest learners for lunch in the cafeteria, where he had the chance to chat with kindergartners and acknowledge the efforts of dedicated food service staff.

Superintendent Davis expressed gratitude for the Governor’s visit, stating, “It was an honor to welcome Governor Evers back to our district. His visit was a wonderful opportunity to highlight the fantastic work happening at Jefferson Elementary and to celebrate the importance and impact of our public schools.”

The visit served as a reminder of the shared commitment to educational excellence and community engagement that drives the success of local schools.

The Governor was also joined by Wisconsin State Representative Lori Palmeri and Winnebago County Board District 24 Supervisor Andy Buck. OASD Board of Education Vice President Chris Wright was also in attendance.
