UW Oshkosh mourns loss of alumni and faculty

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh community mourns the loss of several alumni and faculty members who passed away in recent months.

From the 1950s, Marlyn (Simonson) Supiano, a 1950 graduate from Sheboygan Falls, died on July 8, 2024.

In the 1960s cohort, Betsey “Granny” Hager, a 1969 graduate from Wausau, passed away on May 31, 2024. Rolland Lemke, who earned his degrees in 1963 and 1967 respectively, died in Green Bay on June 13, 2024.

Representing the graduates from the 1970s are Diane Armitage from Saint Paul, Minnesota (1970), who died on June 11; Sharon (Bohlman) Ashenbrenner from Menasha (1970), who passed away on July 8; Helen Limberg from Neenah (1979), who died on June 28; and James Stirniman from Fitchburg (1977), who passed away on June 27.

The university also notes the passing of several alumni from the class of the '80s: Dorothy Krauss from Fond du Lac (1989), Nancy Richardson from Edgerton (1985), Marilyn Schmidt from Oshkosh (1988), Alan Sippel from Hampton, Virginia (1986), Vicki Uslabar from The Villages, Florida (1986), and Kevin Weber from Lodi (1988).

David Reichenberger of Oshkosh represents the class of the '00s with his passing on June 25. Tyler Kohout of Green Bay is noted among those lost in recent years; he graduated in 2012 and died on June 27.

The UW Oshkosh community also remembers Janice Klemish, Professor of Music between 1964-1985; she passed away in Ripon on July 3. John Mozingo served at the College of Business between 1983-2004 and died in Oshkosh on June 8. Thomas Witte was part of Residence Life facilities operations between 1980-2011; he passed away on June22.
