The 2024 Summer Meals Program commenced in early June, offering free breakfast and lunch to all children aged 18 and under at various locations throughout the city. The Oshkosh Area School District’s (OASD) Summer Meals Program aims to bridge the nutrition gap for children when school meals are not available. Free meals adhering to federal nutrition guidelines will be served at designated sites during specified dates and times. While meals are free for individuals 18 years and younger, adults can purchase breakfast for $2.75 and lunch for $4.00.

Families are encouraged to visit the nearest location from the listed sites. Meals must be consumed onsite, with check-in required through school visitor entrances.

“Helping parents meet the nutritional needs of their children is the strength of this program,” said Michele Stahmann, OASD Director of Food Services “There is no registration required and no income requirements. Children can simply stop in during meal times to receive a free, nutritious breakfast and lunch.”

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, provides nutritious meals to children during summer when free or reduced-price school meals are typically unavailable. Meals are provided to eligible children regardless of race, color, national origin, age, gender or disability without discrimination in meal service.

*Free meals will be available for children aged up to18 years old and persons over18 who are determined by state or local public educational agencies to be mentally or physically disabled while participating in public or private non-profit school programs during the regular school year.*
