University of Wisconsin Oshkosh announces spring commencement details

Over 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students are set to be recognized for their academic achievements at the University of Wisconsin's spring commencement ceremonies next weekend. The university community, along with relatives and friends, will gather to celebrate the newest alumni from UWO.

For those intending to attend in person or watch online, here are the details:

The 150th spring commencement ceremonies of UW Oshkosh will take place on Saturday, May 18. The morning ceremony will commence at 9 a.m., while the afternoon ceremony is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Both events will be held at Kolf Sports Center, located at 785 High Ave., on the Oshkosh campus.

Jim VandeHei ’95, a UWO alumnus and co-founder and CEO of news website Axios, will deliver remarks as a special Commencement speaker at both ceremonies. VandeHei is also known for his previous role as executive editor and co-founder of Politico.

Student speakers include Frances “Frankie” Kerkhof from Oshkosh who will speak at the morning ceremony upon graduating with a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Letters and Science. Eli Tranel from West Bend will address attendees during the afternoon ceremony after receiving his bachelor of science degree in education from the College of Education and Human Services.

This spring's Class of 2024 consists of an estimated total of 1,312 students earning degrees: 51 doctoral candidates, 234 master’s degree candidates, 925 bachelor’s degree candidates, and 112 associate degree candidates.
