Fox Valley Technical College issued the following announcement on March 17.
Starting in the 2022-23 school year, students at Wautoma High School will have more options to learn valuable skilled trades through the FVTC Wautoma Regional Center.
Several new offerings are in the works, including courses in pipe trades, woodworking, automation and electricity. These classes will introduce students to these fields, and help fill a need for skilled workers in the area.
Classes starting in Fall 2022:
Pipe Trades (3 credits): covers a variety of topics relating to the profession while working on hands-on projects. Students will also be able to visit actual construction locations and meet trades professionals on the job.
Layout and Sawing Operations (2 credits): explores basic layout and measurement practices. Students will gain exposure to woodworking machines while developing safe habits. This course is required for both the Residential Building Construction and Wood Manufacturing Technology degrees offered at FVTC.
