Bussing Update

Bus pix

Appleton Area School District issued the following announcement on Sept. 15

High school families, we were informed by Lamers earlier today that they are unable to provide bus transportation at the 2:51 p.m. early release time tomorrow, Wednesday, September 15.

Bussing will be available at the regular 3:40 p.m. release time for all Regular Education and Special Education bussed students.

Families with cabbed students, who use Carepool Car Service or Kidz Kab will be following the 2:51 p.m. early release.

AASD high school students can also ride free during the school year on Valley Transit. Students must show the bus driver a valid Student ID to ride. Routing info is available by calling (920) 832-5800 or visiting their website https://myvalleytransit.com/route-maps-schedules/.

This situation is out of our control and we apologize for the inconvenience and disruption this may cause your family.

September 2, 2:30 p.m. Update

Due to a shortage of drivers and other unforeseen technical issues, Lamers has been unable to resolve the issues with delays that occurred yesterday. Unfortunately, this means they are anticipating similar delays today and tomorrow. Lamers believes they can resolve these issues by early next week. However, families are encouraged to make alternative plans for their child’s transportation if at all possible or if these delays cause an issue.

We are also experiencing delays in the return of bus routing information; longer than initially anticipated. Households will be contacted on Tuesday, September 7th for bussing updates to start on Wednesday, September 8th.

Please know that if your child is late to school due to a struggle with bussing their attendance will be excused.

We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption this has caused for your family. We will continue to share transportation-related updates as they become available.

Posted: September 2, 7:30 a.m.

Last night we experienced issues involving bussing. This morning we continue to experience similar challenges involving both Lamers and Valley Transit buses.

We apologize for the disruption this is causing  for students and families in our District. We continue to work with Lamers and Valley Transit to remedy these challenges.

Please know that if your child is late to school due to a struggle with bussing their attendance will be excused.

Again, we apologize for these issues and the disruption they have caused for you and your family.
