Froedtert ThedaCare announced on Apr. 14 that Harold Berfiend will serve as the health care system’s new chief financial officer.
Berfiend will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including strategy, budgeting, revenue cycle management, and long-term planning. His leadership is expected to support the organization’s goal of maintaining comprehensive care and expanding access across Wisconsin and beyond.
“Berfiend brings a strong track record of financial leadership and a deep understanding of the evolving health care landscape,” said Imran A. Andrabi, MD, FAAFM, president and CEO Froedtert ThedaCare. “His expertise and strategic perspective will be instrumental as we continue to invest in our people, expand access to care and strengthen the communities we serve.”
In his new position, Berfiend will oversee several teams such as Finance, Facilities, Revenue Cycle, Supply Chain and Managed Care. “Froedtert ThedaCare is nationally recognized for its demonstrated strong financial performance,” said Berfiend. “I look forward to working alongside the leadership, clinical teams and others to build on the organization’s strong financial foundation and help drive continued growth and innovation in patient care.” He also said: “I am energized by the Mission and culture at Froedtert ThedaCare. Before joining Froedtert ThedaCare, Berfiend held various leadership roles at Indiana University Health system including corporate controller; chief operating officer of IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital; vice president of strategic integration; most recently serving as vice president and controller for its statewide system.
Mark Thompson has been serving as interim chief financial officer while also holding his role as chief transformational investments and value integration officer for Froedtert ThedaCare; he will retire on July 3.
